Publication and Grant Guidelines

For any publications or grant applications with data acquired on the core instruments, please follow the guidance below.

Acknowledgements

Please acknowledge the UCSF Innovation Core at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences in publications, presentations, posters, grant applications, reports, and other research outputs that benefited from the Core.

Acknowledging the Core is an important way to support us and helps demonstrate the scientific impact of our resources and expertise. This is critical for securing funding and institutional support that allow us to maintain and expand the services we provide to the research community.

Suggested acknowledgment – Basic Instrumentation and general support

"We thank the UCSF Innovation Core at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences for access to light microscopy instrumentation, training, and technical support."

Suggested acknowledgment – Instrumentation and scientific expertise

"We thank the UCSF Innovation Core at the Weill Institute for Neurosciences for access to light microscopy instrumentation, training, and scientific guidance on experimental design and optimization."

In addition to acknowledging the Core, you are welcome to recognize individual Core staff members when appropriate. If Core staff make substantial intellectual or scientific contributions to a project—such as through experimental design, method development, data analysis, or interpretation—please discuss appropriate recognition, including potential co-authorship, with the staff involved.

Thank you for acknowledging the Core! Your acknowledgements help us demonstrate our impact and secure the resources needed to continue supporting your research.
